#87/365--Painful Process

...there really just aren't words...

I get a text
...from my daughter...
telling me to have
...patience...
with our dog, Sandy

...initially...
I thought she meant
because it had stormed
...and...
Sandy is just a nervous dog

...every time it storms...
we are used to
finding
...treasures...
by the back door

...but...
it hadn't really stormed

When I got home
I found

...this does nothing...
to relay the extent
of
...trauma...
that happened at my home
...today...

I had a malfunctioning
...smoke detector...
(maybe you get the irony in that?)
...it was beeping...
non-stop
which
...in turn...
freaked my
psycho-nervous dog
...out...

My friends...
when I say there was blood
...everywhere...
I mean not just
...what you see in the picture...
but
...everywhere...
and also
...fecal matter...
...poop...
...crap...

...that my poor girl...
-- in her frenzy --
had stepped in
and tracked
all over
...in addition to...
the now dried
...puddle...
of pee
(insert your own version of smell)

We
...that is to say...
Sandy and I
are
exhausted

After taking two hours
...to clean downstairs...
(wood floors, 4 windows, 4 windowsills,
kitchen tile, garage door, entryway door,
back door, entryway tile, guest bathroom ---
---you get it....the ENTIRE downstairs)

...and take down the completely destroyed...
...3rd set of blinds I have owned...
(all thanks to Sandy)

...and after my friend, Tara...
bathed Sandy
...who, at this point...
looked like a wild mutt

We trekked to Home Depot
...to purchase new blinds...
only to find out
...that even tho we measured...
we got the wrong size

Time to let it go
...for tonight...
and
try again
...tomorrow...

Thanks, Tara,
for coming to help!!
Sandy loves you!
...and so do I...

#76/365--Oops

I flip-flopped my
#75
and
#76
posts!

...no matter...
because
I forgot
to take a pic
yesterday!

#75/365--Simplistic St. Pat's Hairstyle

I tried this new
...ponytail...
today

...it's like this regular ponytail...
...with like...
a little bump to it
...not really all that...
...special...

...but the REAL question is...
what color is my sweater?

I mean
does it qualify
...as green...

#74/365--Laziness

...there are those...
who assert
that
...cleanliness is next to godliness...

but
...I say that...

...laziness...
is
...near perfection...
I spent today
...reading...
...and...
listening to
...the rain...

and later
...found this...
...waiting for me outside...
...perfect day...

#68/365--Butterfly Exhibit, Fort Worth Botanic Gardens

Butterflies
...flutter by...

...eagle's eye...

...Monkey climbs...

...time marches on...

...and these two...
(circa 2002; approx. same locale)

...emerge from their cocoon...
...much too soon...
...ready to fly...
on their own

#66/365--Sock Wars

Field Day
2014
...not quite the same...
...as the...
"good ole days"
when we had
an entire day
filled with
activities to showcase
all of the
...skills...
learned in P.E.

Today
we got
...an hour and a half...

My team
decided to do
"rotations"
(after the P.E. relays)
...in which...
the kiddos
would rotate
from class to class
in 20 minute increments
...doing some sort of fun activity...

My class played
...Sock Wars...
...bombing each other with...
-- you guessed it --
...socks...
(( yes, they were clean!! ))
...it was a blast...

Two teams.
One on each side of the classroom.
Protected by a barrier of desks.
One minute.
Team with least socks at the end of a minute wins.
Go.

...but...
after five classes
of three wars each
...with me manning the mid-field...
tossing socks that had missed their mark
...back into the game...
I am exhausted.

Welcome to Spring Break!

#65/365--Extreme Heater

Ok, so I wish I had taken a picture
in the morning
when
...my heater...
ran and ran and ran
even after I turned it off
...until it finally hit 78...
and I shut it off
...at the breaker...
...I mean, seriously...
I tried everything
from
turning it down
to changing the filter
to turning it off
...after realizing...
it was getting
...a little warm...

Later, when I got home
...and reset the breaker...
my heater
...continued...
to run
even after it was
...shut off...
...so...
looks like I need
a
...professional...

#62/365--Sleep

You spend the first few years
...of their lives...
wishing
hoping
praying
...that they will sleep in...
and
in those first few years
...they are up...
...at the crack of dawn...
...or before...

and
as a young parent
...you hit the ground running...
and
you are
tired
worn out
listless
running on empty

but
over the course of time
your body-clock
gets used to the
...early hours...
and
you just naturally
...start waking up at the crack of dawn...
right as they
...start to sleep in...
and
...you begin...
wishing
hoping
praying
...they will get up...
and spend time with you

...especially on...
unexpected
"snow days"
