#239/365--Slippery

...floors...
...and...
schedules
and
situations
and
relationships

but

...a little fresh air...
can
...dry everything up...
and
bring back
solid ground

#234/365--Fun

Lauren and I were both challenged
...to do...
the
#alsicebucketchallenge

...before...

...during...

...after...
(there isn't an after shot of La)
that was
breath-taking-ly
shockingly
...cold...
but
...fun...

#233/365--Bonding

with
...my boy...

#230/365--Burns

My hairbrush is metal.

It gets really
...really...
hot
when I dry my hair.

So
when you accidentally
...touch your skin...
with it
...amidst the blow-drying process...
...this...
...might happen...

#226/365--New Beginnings

This year
...I'm embarking on...
a personal journey

I made a choice

to leave my comfort zone
to leave the primary grades
to leave some of
my best teacher friends

to
move up to 4th grade
...in order to...
teach something I love

...writing...

And let's be real.
I am far from good
...at this craft...

but

the bottom line is
...I love it...
I love tapping out my thoughts
on blog
or paper
I love
backspacing
erasing
editing
wording
grammar-ing
rereading
rewording
more backspacing
and erasing
and creating

and
...more importantly...
I love to see kids
pouring out their souls
their ideas
thoughts
moments
stories
experiences
joys
sorrows
poems

...discovering themselves...
through this
...art-form...
and
...developing a love for it...

To say that I'm excited
is
an understatement
but also
I'm anxious
nervous
...a little scared...

because
...well...
first things first
 ...I have to turn this...
...into a workable space...
for
older kids

...and I'm not used to...
older kids
(except my own --
which might explain my anxiety?)

Here's to
New Beginnings
New Challenges
New Creativity
New People
New Opportunites
...here's to...
...the new school year...

#225/365--My Last Day of Summer

I get to go back
...to school...
tomorrow

so

The kids
...and I...

went on a date

...my goofy angels...

#224/365--Fees

Before I could register Michael
...for 9th grade...
I had to pay
...for a book that was returned late...
...it was entitled...
...apples don't fall far...

#221/365--Recovery

Our family spent the afternoon
"crafting..."

Michael put together a model car

...and Lauren and I started knitting scarves...
(she wouldn't let me take a pic of her face)
...a little down time...
so that
Lauren
could
...recover...

#220/365--Wisdom

Lauren had her wisdom teeth
...extracted...
today

...before...

...right after...

...driving home...
(jellyfish = she was poking her lips)

she couldn't move or feel
 her mouth
due to the anesthesia
and this is how
we have been
...communicating...

...and now...
we are resting
.....
I'm not cut out for
...patient care...

#215/365--Grasshopper Love

...get a room...

#214/365--Twenty-five

...the number after 24...
but
...before 26...

...two sets of ten and five ones...
two decades plus five singles
...one Andrew Jackson plus one Abraham Lincoln...

...the age I was when...
I was pregnant with
my first child

...how many years it's been...
since I
graduated
...from...
high school

...which means...
it was time
for
...a class reunion...

I drove into
my hometown
on that old
two-lane
...highway...

I haven't been down that road
in at least 15 years
...and...
the closer I got to town
the more emotional
I got
because of all the memories
that started flooding my brain
...and...
I got a little anxious
...because...
I hadn't seen
my old house

...since my parents lived there...
...since Mom sold it...
...since Dad died...
...since it has new owners...

...but...
...there she was...
my old house
...mostly the same...
minus a few trees
plus some color changes
 ...and...
...that's not the mail box I remember...
(the one I crashed into when I turned 16)

...so much has changed...
in that small town
...as things do...
...when so much time has passed...
it was good
to be there
to see it
one more time
...maybe...
so I can let go
or
...hold on...
...and...
Go Yellowjackets!

#213/365--Stuck in Traffic

Michael spent the week
in Arkansas
at
my brother's house

...Lauren and I...
drove up
to get him
and
got stuck
for
a total
of
an hour and a half
in this

...two weekends in a row,
to and from Arkansas,
driving a manual
with no cruise control
makes for one
exhausted
me...

#212/365--Crafting for Classroom

Some
crafts
I am
working on
for
my new
classroom
