#205/366--Hiking

We went to
Petit Jean Mountain
which is also
the place where
we spread
my dad's ashes
so
we visited his
...site...
first

then
we did some
hiking
and
climbing

The final trail we went on
(together)
was the
Cedar Falls Trail

It was a 2 mile hike
down to the falls

The kids hiked around
and played under the falls
while
I climbed up
on some rocks
and just sat
and
enjoyed the view
and
the peace

Soon, they were ready to
hike back up
and explore
some more...
but
my
clumsiness
and
sandy-wet rocks
don't make
a good combo

I slipped
while
climbing down from where I was
and
twisted
or
rolled
...sprained...
or
...broke...
my ankle
at
the
bottom
of
the
mountain
with
a
two
mile
hike
...back...

We didn't really know
how bad it was
just that
it started
swelling
immediately...
so
Lauren wrapped it
with
Michael's shirt
and some ice
and
Michael helped me
hike back up.

Once we got back,
we unwrapped my ankle
and
Needless to say
I was done
with our adventure
but the kiddos
left me with
my
nurse
(Mom)
and
found
another mountain
to hike
and
creek to swim in
